This one is an attempt to replicate the ww2 enfield bolt action rifle the british used through world war 1 all the way to world war two and is even still used in some paramilitaries today. I used mostly recordings of the actual enfield rifle and just stacked them together, processed them with eq and multiband compression and several transient designers to bring out the snap and attached a reverb tail to it. Made this in ableton live.

Two-pole circuit breaker recorded held in my hand, also pressed against a wooden board for more resonance. And some rattling mechanical handling noises at the end. Useful as electrical switch click. 96 khz, 32-bit float. Tlm-103 mic straight into pro tools. The only processing is a mild gate. At least it has a good noise floor.

Here is a recording i made of my toilet flushing. I used 3 microphones, one placed in the bowl, one place on the cistern and one placed about 2 feet away from the toilet. The mics were fed into a sound devices 664. The only post processing i did was mix the levels. Toilet bowl - shure sm57cistern - sanken cos11main mic - sennheiser mkh416.

Chewing: crunching hard food in closed mouth, slower pace. Crunching ice or other larger, harder food. Edited from the sound of a salt grinder intermittently crushing rock salt (tempo increased 15%, high cut eq applied to simulate closed mouth). Recorded using a tascam dr-40x and processed in audacity.

Process: a while ago i worked on a game and recorded several sound effects, one track after another. With the session set up the way it was, i opened all the channels and selected a section and exported it. After exporting, i threw it into paulstretch, and rendered that at the default settings. This is the result. If you use it, shoot me a message with a link to the project! i'd love to see how it's used!.

Afternoon rain, a light rain or drizzle. Recorded with my desktop computer, anhp pavillion with vista and realtek audio. Standard microphone. Since the rain wasnot blowing in the door, i could hangthe mike out the door. Audacity was myplatform, with very little processing. This version was recorded with the default amplitude at o db. There is a little thunder now and then, and birds chirping outside, mostlycatbirds or mockingbirds. At one pointone of my neighbors was outside talking, the conversation is not distinguishable. This recording is just over 37 minutes. Since there was almost no wind or breeze, the rain is easy to hear. Thatis when it falls on the sidewalk.

Old guitar multitrack recording with some effects from the pod x3. Some post-processing, not much. There's some minor clipping issues since i never got around properly mixing this and the original project file is long lost. Maybe someone can find use for this :-).

Created in pure data. I used some of the abstractions from the mtl abstraction collection trying to create complex rain ambience. Https://puredata. Info/members/mtl/index_html. Recorded and post-processed with audacity. For a more "rainy" effect perhaps try use a few offset and panned layers of the sfx. Well, you can hear the result. .

A recreation of a lavalier microphone pop. Useful for reality or documentary where an interviewee may rip off their mic or you simply want to create the illusion of that drama. Also useful to incorporate into a "signal lost" effect, etc. Processed with some limiting so it's tamed and ready to throw in a mix. Recorded with an mxl lsm-3 dynamic mic, no reason to abuse my real lav mics.

This is a snippet of a lesson i had with my incredible undergrad professor where we talk about a piece i was writing for bowed piano ensemble. He was incredibly influential on my creative process and as students we would regularly use his voice in electronic pieces by stealth recording his lectures. It only felt right to use one of these snippets for this project since it brings back so many great memories.

(edit of other recording, with eq, reverb etc. ) recorded inside of an abandoned building next to a boarded-up, old wooden exit door. Has a nice, subtle low hum, which is actually from a plane flying overhead. Also contains knocking sounds, which is most likely the door being a bit loose. Would be awesome for horror atmospheres. Feel free to use this sound for what ever you wish to. Credit is appreciated but not needed. Let me know what you use this sound for!.

Field-recording of the creek found in old ellicot city, md. The creek is located in a suburban town, and is surrounded by a man-made rock moat about a story below street level. Recorded using a sony pcm-m10 at 24bit, 96k. The sound has been gently processed!!- hpf (6db slope) to remove rumble- compressor (ni supercharger gtx) with a minimal 1db gain reduction in m/s mode and a bit of warmth added. - ozone 5 for a little m/s eq to alleviate some of the watery pops on the sides and a little stereo widening to compensate for the pcm-m10's built in omni mics.

I wanted to find a good creative commons 0 sound effect of fingernails scratching on a wooden surface but i could find the exact thing i was looking for. So i recorded myself scratching my bedroom door with my fingernails using a recording app on my phone and edited it in audacity to remove breathing sounds, and to make the sound feel more heavy/deep, including some very faint reverb. Since i really wanted this i thought it might be useful for someone else! i hope someone else out there like me finds this somewhat useful. Theres a bit of a clicking noise at the end - i think from the recording process.

At the close of the children's hospital telethon immediately after it was announced that more than $4 million had been raised, people on the phone banks started cheering, this as the closing credits were being run on the tv screen. This is non-descript cheering, my recording in a public setting having been invited as a journalist to be there to report for broadcast. There are no copyright issues associated with this recording. This is the raw sound, including a few noices when my microphone got tapped. Edit, process to your hearts desire.

Recorded with zoom h2 at 96 khz / 24-bit. Edited and converted to flac using audacity, otherwise unprocessed. Midway through recording i have lowered my gain setting from hi to mid to avoid clipping. Some background noise (fridge) is left in for noise removal. I prefer to get raw audio from freesound i can process myself - gives me maximum options, that's why i deliver the same. Lyrebird is a ground dwelling bird that lives in the australian bush and is very clever at mimicking sounds. This particular bird happens to sound like a science fiction movie! i removed much of the background noise, and lightly processed it with a phase effect. At the end i pitched certain sounds down for a more alien, dinosaur sound. The original sound was recorded on a smart phone.

Switch flip #2. Modify/use however you want. Recorded with a zoom h4n using built-in stereo mics. Edited & processed with fl studio 11 & edison. Recorded at an inactive ski-lift. Technically the original sound was not a switch, it was a rain-proof cover on a power outlet. If you use this in anything, please put it in the comments, me and other people may want to check it out!.

In broekhuizen, near arcen, lies the old ferry named grubbenvorst, dying on the river maas. It has been replaced by a newer one. The old one lies rotting away some hundred metres away from its old trajectory. It was very windy that day and the carcass of the ship was mildly rocking back and forth resulting in this beautiful creaking. The occasional thud is the boat hitting the construction it is lying in. This recording was made with a zoom h2n on 4 channel mode. It was then further edited and processed using reaper. It was recorded on april 3rd 2018. The zoom was protected by a rycote windshield and my own cap as an extra windbreaker.

The doorbell in my apartment is so loud and obnoxious i decided to share my pain with the rest of the world, lol. In all seriousness, hopefully someone finds it useful for their production. The first sample is the purest, with the last two i *attempted* some dampening, but the difference is really inaudible. Recorded with zoom h6 (xy capsule), minimal processing done (loudness normalization, slight panning rebalance, hi-pass @ 40hz).

Note: the high-pitched squeaks are artifacts from freesound's preview and aren't present in the actual recording. 10 minutes of a thunderstorm, recorded september 7th, 2019 from my apartment window in seattle. This is the raw recording straight from my zoom h5. Levels were kept low to minimize the chance of clipping. A few thunder sounds were still too loud, but luckily the h5 has a backup function that recorded an identical track 12 db quieter. I've uploaded that as well, so you can splice the two together to taste. Eventually i'll release a processed version with the two combined, plus compression and eq, but i wanted to upload the source material in case you'd prefer to diy it.

This is the sound of trying to squeeze the last dregs of liquid hand soap from a 60-oz plastic container. It has no excuse for sounding this rude. Recorded opportunistically under non-ideal circumstances (including noise floor and clock ticking in background), using the built-in mic on an iphone 7. No processing was done except splicing multiple takes into one file, and transcoding to wav.

Just some sample hits from my drum kit. I left them totally raw so you can add your own processing, reverbs, delays, whatever. The "just the room mic" could be especially fun to nuke, mangle and/or distort. I performed and recorded all of these samples in my studio. So slice & dice, hack & slash, scoop & loop, smash & bash. Make some noise!.

For this jazzyloop i used. Drumbot. Compiano chordsrandom progressionminor, 4 chords, 80 bpm, oo_odm, cm, c#6, f#9had to record straight to audacity. No export function. Drumbotcountry & folksmothness made a 4 bar drum sequence and exported as wav. This site (drumbot. Com) had no "bass function". . . Quick search led me to onlinesequencer. Nethere i made a bass line to the chords in 80bpm. Here you can only export to mid. . . Once again i had to record straight to audacity. Result this loop. No processing in audacity.

The user gorgoroth6669 posted an awesome recording of some wolves, somewhere in norge. Http://www. Freesound. Org/people/gorgoroth6669/sounds/76456/. I needed it mono, but the upload was stereo. So, in the process of rendering a mono version. . . I decided to tinker. There's high & low pass filtering as well as a 4 band eq applied. Seems to have significantly reduced the noise. I also forced zero crossings :]. Figured i'd post in case anyone can make use of it√. Takk gorgoroth6669!.

Standing on the east side of michigan avenue near ontario street, chicago, 7/16/16 at 10:07pm. Lots of passing traffic, squealing brakes, distant voices, distant sirens. A busker in the middle distance is playing his recognizable clarinet licks. Around 3:14 a group of motorcycle riders pass revving their engines. Edited to remove potentially copyright infringing music (captured playing out of passing cars and motorbikes). Recorded with two countryman emw lavaliers in a head-mounted binaural arrangement, into a tascam dr-40 recorder. Processed to remove excessive bass rumble and compensate for eq curve of lavaliers.

Recording of a door being opened and closed, and then opened and closed again. Very slight footsteps (on carpet) can be heard. The microphone (sennheiser mkh-50) was intentionally placed about 5 feet away from the door so as to capture some of the natural room sound/reverb (which is very subtle). I have another recording available of the exact same door and mic setup, but aimed slightly off-axis to capture just a bit more room sound. Recorded into a tascam 208i audio interface and into adobe audition. Very minor processing (low-cut at 80hz to remove low-freq rumble).

Sparrows flying from branch to branch in a bare rose bush. Unintentional capture of sound as i was just out walking testing new equipment. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is no processing to this recording other than to ‘normalize’ the levels. I do not require any credit or attribution. If any of these sounds have been of help, and you are feeling charitable, please do consider donating to freesound to help keep the site running (a link is also on the home page). Autumn forest wind. Heavy, fast gusty in tall pine trees. Some birds and raindrops. Soundscapes of natural white noise of moderate intensity. Some are stagnant or static and with few birds. The presents of the colourful red and yellow dry leaves that is still on the trees, creates the noise of the wind with rustling whispers. Is a constantly form of natural white noise that is always changing and evolving. These recordings is from my third attempt. I think it is very difficult to record the “spirit” and unique sound of the wind. This is pure natural wind sounds (no layering, no post-processing, no synthesizers). Originally recorded at 24 bit sony dat tcd-d7 on a sony ecm-909 microphone. Recorded in sweden september of 2007 in a wet cold beautiful colourful forest, with all kind of trees, far away from any traffic or human sounds.

Recording made by juliana romero and felipe moreno on may 11, 2020 at 6:00 am in the village pueblo viejo upper part in the municipality of facatativá, colombia. This zone has a corridor of vegetation in the process of succession typical of dry areas. Constant bird songs in this area undergoing ecological restoration with the dominance of great thrush, rufous-collared sparrow, black-tailed trainbearer, black flowerpiercer and the sound of several individuals of the endemic specie of the silvery-throated highland spinetail stands out among adults and juveniles, among others.
